More than 34 million Americans – one in three – are afflicted with digestive diseases, and 20 million of these have chronic disorders.
The tenured, board-certified and fellowship-trained faculty physicians and surgeons of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio multidisciplinary digestive disease center have a combined total of more than 300 years experience among them. Our team consists of experienced diagnosticians, endoscopists (including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatograhy), general and colorectal surgeons, and surgical endoscopists, supported by caring, experienced allied health and nursing professionals.
Digestive diseases include more than 40 acute and chronic conditions of the GI tract -- ranging from common conditions to life-threatening disorders, and are the second leading cause of disability due to illness in the United States.
