Career Accomplishments: Dr. Patel joined the UTHSC-SA Gastroenterology Division faculty after receiving advanced training under internationally-recognized endoscopist Dr. Joseph Geenen of the Medical College of Wisconsin in ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography), a specialized form of gastrointestinal endoscopy used to diagnose and treat many different disorders of the pancreas and the bile ducts. Skilled in both ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), Dr. Patel serves as Chief of Pancreato-Biliary Endoscopy at the medical school. Dr. Patel has rapidly established UTHSC-SA as a regional referral center for complex pancreatic and biliary problems, instituting a new and rapidly growing Pancreas Clinic and successfully bringing state-of-the-art and cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies to UTHSC-SA, including pancreatic and biliary manometry and intra-ductal pancreatic and biliary endoscopy.

Dr. Patel sees patients for the evaluation of pancreatic and biliary disorders, as well as for the evaluation of general gastrointestinal and liver diseases, at the UT Medicine Diagnostic Pavilion, 4647 Medical Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78229.
